GRP bridge decking
GRP gratings are increasingly being used in new bridge construction and modernization projects as a replacement for rotten wooden planks and slippery steel decking.
Safe, durable, and low-maintenance
GRP bridge coverings offer a high level of safety and a long service life. They are slip-resistant, corrosion-free, and permanently weather-resistant. Even in wet conditions, frost, or under heavy loads, the traffic areas remain reliably usable for pedestrians and cyclists.
Since bridge decking often also serves as service or escape routes, walking comfort and safety are crucial. GRP gratings meet these requirements permanently and without material-related aging.
Compared to wood or steel, there is no damage from moisture or corrosion. Electrical insulation usually eliminates the need for additional grounding measures and significantly reduces maintenance and repair costs.
Quick installation, short closure times
Thanks to their low weight, GRP bridge coverings are easy to install and can be easily adjusted on site if necessary. This enables quick installation, shortens construction times, and reduces closures and interruptions to ongoing operations to a minimum.
Additional advantages at a glance:
- Sound-insulating – reduced noise generation
- Electrically insulating – no grounding required
- Economical – short construction times and low follow-up costs
Versatile applications
GRP gratings are not only used on bridges, but also on edge paths, maintenance and inspection paths in the area of bridges and noise barriers. In addition, special solutions are available for threshold covers and other covering areas.
Depending on the application, the covers can be open – e.g., for drainage or weight reduction – or closed for increased walking comfort and maximum safety. For escape route applications, close-meshed designs with small mesh sizes (Micro or Nano types) are available.
This allows GRP covers to be designed for specific applications and used wherever safe, durable, and low-maintenance solutions are required.
